What I need is a sure way of keeping kids from talking during book talks. Now the name book talks sounds like everyone should be talking, but in fact that is a disaster. We want kids to feel empowered to say what is on their minds, but how to limit that to the appropriate times is the problem. Today I book talked Naked-Mole-Rat Letters and showed a Utube video of naked-mole-rats in their colony searching and eating food. They loved the little creatures but this brought on way too much enthusiasm.
